Virginia Coin Show Report

Was in Richmond yesterday. Mostly scoping for bullion deals. None were to be found. Bullion coins at $15/oz., no bars, for silver. No better prices on Gold.

A very good show for the numi crowd. It was the 50th anniversary of the show.

Do not mistake the "shortage" of silver bullion at Coin Shows as a sign of scarcity.

Most true Numismatic dealers do not take low profit silver to a show, if you are packing weight, you take numismatics that have good profit, not ounces of silver to make 50 cents..

I fully understand that but most dealers will still take some product just to see it move to cover table fee's and such.

Here we have a entire coin show in a collective dry period??

What are the odds of that?

I would agree with you if the shows are know nusimatic shows, most Ive been too lately had been heavinly laden with bullion over the years and now are dry as a bone, inquiries of the dealers show their inability to procure bullion.

I searched for a little silver bullion this weekend. I visited one dealer and two pawn shops. The dealer was closed (which makes me think he had nothing to sell). One pawn shop owner had 100 oz bars that he wanted $1400 each for. Other than that - nothing.

You can get generic 100 oz bars for $1220 on bulliondirect.com using the Nucleo Exchange program. Alot of guys here have tried it and seem to like it. I just signed up, made a couple of trades (purchases) and now have requested a product draw to get the stuff in my hands. :applause_

At this time looks like the lowest ASK price on Nucleo on BD is $1450. However, they are still $1237 in the catalog.

SCPM has 90% for about 8x face.

I did a coin show in NJ this past weekend and I was the only bullion dealer there. I sold a bunch of 10 oz bars for $175 and lots of 1 oz art bars for $20-$40 I will be doing another show this weekend in pay and plan to do the same..

I had many people balk because they all wanted to buy cheap Silver! I asked everone of them if they currently own silver and all said yes. I then asked what the higest price they paid per ounce this year. Most all said $17 - $20 and then asked them if they will sell me some of there Silver for $12 an ounce.. They all laughed and said NO WAY. I smiled and said then why should I sell mine to you for $12? I am not here to loose money just like you don't go to work to get paid half of what you made last week.

As a dealer I buy and sell and work off a spread. When I can not replace what I have for the a lower price I will not be selling what I have for less.
